The goal of Elektrocurrent from the start has been to create the sonic experience of a DJ combined with the interactive live visual experience of top-level live musicians. Elektrocurrent’s core consists of Charlie Finlay (saxophones/sample director), a multi instrumentalist, aspiring film / television composer, and Colin Kingsmore (electronic drums), an internationally in demand performing drummer. This unique project utilizes modern sampling technology from Ableton Live software during performances allowing for real time mixing and DJ style effects. Individual layers of instrumental parts/loops are pre-recorded beforehand and prepared for live sampling. ie) Bass parts, extra horn/vocal harmonies, and other instruments are pre-recorded and triggered/modified by using Ableton Live during performances. This duo project has the flexibility to perform with featured guests musicians and to collaborate/improvise during a live set.
